Dave Cooper's October show at La Petite Mort will be centered around the animated music video Dave did for epic Canadian power trio, "Danko Jones". the video for "King of Magazines" was conceived, written, storyboarded and designed by Dave. for the project he was given carte blanche, so as a result it looks like one of his kinky comics or paintings come to life. the show will feature a loop of the video playing on a large screen, and a large selection of original design pencil sketches from the making of the video will be on display. and to round out the opening, there will be some related pen+ink drawings and oil paintings (of the video's main characters, Mimi Wobbly and her friends) made especially for this show.
a portion of the show will also feature artwork by the video's award-winning director/animator, Nick Cross. Nick is a longtime friend of both Dave and the Ottawa Animation Festival.
Dave Cooper is a well-known underground comics creator, and a sometime designer in both the animation and toy industries. in the past 10 years he's also established himself as a fine artist with regular solo shows in New York and Los Angeles. He creates kid's books under the pseudonym Hector Mumbly.
